Activity Descriptions

The Twelve Steps for Christians
This group is a fellowship of men and women recovering from behaviors that have affected them in their lives. The purpose of this group is to grow spiritually and in your relationship with God. This group utilizes the Bible and the book, The Twelve Steps for Christians. Books will be provided.

#Adulting
Want to learn life skills to help you "adult"? In this group, we will cover topics such as budgeting, how to search for an apartment, understanding health insurance, understanding social media, plus a wide variety of topics to help you "adult."

Cooking on a Budget
On a tight budget? Want to eat a decent meal? Come and learn how to prepare something new. Members who help prepare the meal are welcome to indulge in their creations. Members choose each week what type of meal they would like to prepare the following week.

Coping Skills Group
Looking for a new skill to help manage feelings of depression, anxiety, anger or stress? This is a group where people can drop in and pick up a new skill to try out in their daily lives.

Crafter-noon! / Coffee & Crafts
Do you like to express yourself through arts and crafts? Bring your own supplies or use ours! You may choose to express yourself through your own artistic means or choose to follow along with a planned artistic activity, which alternates weekly.

Guitar with Max!
Want to chill out and listen to some music? Or would you like to learn how to play guitar? Do you already know how to play an instrument and want to have a jam session? If so, then this activity is for you! Our volunteer, Max, would love to meet, either 1:1 or as a smaller group, to share his love of music. Come check it out!

Mental Health/Co-occurring Peer Support Group
This is a peer to peer support group for those who are diagnosed with a mental health or co-occurring condition. We discuss a variety of topics including, but not limiting to, how to manage depression, anxiety, and hearing voices. We share our own experiences of having a psychiatric diagnosis and how much that impacts or enhances our daily life experiences. Topics change weekly.

SMART Recovery
SMART stands for Self-Management and Recovery Training. It is the leading self-empowering addiction recovery support group! Participants learn recovery tools based on the latest scientific research. SMART Recovery can be used to address any addictive behavior. No matter what your addiction, the program's tools and techniques will help you overcome the behavior.

YMCA Groups
Start your health and wellness activities here! The Rochester Community Recovery Center has free passes to the YMCA for its members and a volunteer staff person. These groups meet at the Strafford County YMCA. Sorry transportation services not available at this time.
